R&W Alternative Remodeling Inc. took care of the design and permit process. This process went more quickly than expected. (Much more quickly than if I had done it myself.) The work was performed promptly and conscientiously. They kept the site clean and organized. The final result was beyond expectations. Regards, Dear prospective customers of R&W Alternative Remodeling, I’m the president of a three-flat condo unit in Edgewater, Chicago, and we just had R&W Alternative Remodeling replace the back exterior wood stairway of our building. I’m writing to highly recommend these guys if you’re making arrangements for a similar job. We got eight estimates for this project, and R&W came in with a price that was several thousand dollars lower than the other bids. Any concerns I had that the lower price would compromise the quality of the work were completely unfounded. Owner, the crew leader, was remarkably courteous and conscientious throughout the entire process. He took care of the design and the necessary permits, and the work they did was absolutely top-notch. Another thing I appreciate is the way owner kept me updated every step of the way. Especially with all the rain we had this spring (’09), there were some days when the crew were forced to delay their work. Despite these unavoidable delays, I always knew from owner exactly what the crew was doing, and they made steady progress. My general impression from this experience was that R&W Alternative Remodeling was working with me to improve the safety, appearance, and value of our building. They kept the work site clean, they skillfully adapted to some surprises of the kind that frequently arise when working on an older building like ours, and they were admirably communicative and friendly. As the Condo Association President, it was my responsibility to find a contractor for the job, while keeping a budget and a hearing deadline in mind. I had multiple companies give me an estimate for the work, but it was the knowledge and professionalism of R&W Alternative Remodeling that pushed me in their direction. I haven't regretted my decision since, and have been recommending their services to anyone I know who needs a reliable and high-quality contractor and crew. They took care of the permit and plans and have continually followed through on all promises.
