Three unit condo building that needed a new back deck and stairs. The old stairs were metal, the stairs and decks were removed, hauled away and rebuilt with wood. We needed new support to bring the structure to code. R&W worked with us to keep the design similar and to bring the structure up to code. We had to have part of concrete walkway removed and redone in addition to the structure. We are very pleased with the work that was completed.
From the first call, everyone was prompt, responsive and on time. Our contact was willing to come out multiple times before they were selected and during the project to speak with the tenants to explain the project, answer questions and to make sure we were satisfied with the work that was being completed. We are very pleased with the work that was completed and we are looking to hire this form again for another project.

I spent several months getting recommendations, quotes, and evaluating various contractors. R&W (aka PorchSystems.net) rose to the top. I felt they had the most credibility when it came to what they intended to do and how they would do it. Some contractors came in with lower estimates, but wanted to take shortcuts that would likely cost us more in the future. Several did not even want to pull permits. We had them replace a catch basin, rebuild a retaining wall, and bring our very large 6 unit porch up to code. They handled all the permitting and architectural drawings which were a relief to us. I would recommend R&W Alternative Remodeling without hesitation.

We chose R&W Alternative Remodeling because the owner and his team, from the very first phone call, were the ultimate professionals. Every phone call was promptly returned, every question answered. R&W helped us throughout the city permit process which was terrific. Once the work started, it was rather late in the year and we worried about the impending snow. The team worked around the clock, in below-freezing temperatures and snow, to make sure our porch was finished. They went above and beyond in some of the repairs, noticing other items (a stair railing, caulking around outside doors) outside of our quote and fixing them without charging us in excess of our original agreement. All unit owners are pleased with the outcome, and we can't wait for summer to enjoy our great 'new' porch. We've also already lined up R&W Alternative Remodeling for some new projects.

I’m writing to highly recommend these guys if you’re making arrangements for a similar job. We got eight estimates for this project, and R&W came in with a price that was several thousand dollars lower than the other bids. Any concerns I had that the lower price would compromise the quality of the work were completely unfounded. Owner, the crew leader, was remarkably courteous and conscientious throughout the entire process. He took care of the design and the necessary permits, and the work they did was absolutely top-notch. Another thing I appreciate is the way owner kept me updated every step of the way. Especially with all the rain we had this spring (’09), there were some days when the crew were forced to delay their work.
